DNS Setup
If you are just setting up your email with us then the following DNS entries will need to be made with whoever manages your DNS.
Type | Hostname | Destination | Priority | TTL |
---|---|---|---|---|
MX | @ or the domain name or left blank | mx1.emailsrvr.com | 10 | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
MX | @ or the domain name or left blank | mx2.emailsrvr.com | 20 | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
TXT | @ or the domain name or left blank | v=spf1 mx include:emailsrvr.com ~all | NA | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
CNAME | autodiscover | autodiscover.emailsrvr.com | NA | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
SPF | @ | v=spf1 include:emailsrvr.com ~all | NA | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
Mail Server Settings
Type | Server | Port | SSL |
---|---|---|---|
Incoming (IMAP) | secure.emailsrvr.com | 993 | SSL/TLS |
Incoming (POP) | secure.emailsrvr.com | 995 | SSL/TLS |
Outgoing (SMTP) | secure.emailsrvr.com | 465 | SSL/TLS |
All incoming and outgoing server settings should use SSL/TLS.
IMAP is the preferred incoming mail server type. It allows you to access your email from multiple computers/devices and keep the emails synched between devices.
POP will download messages to one computer only and will make it so that messages are not available on other devices.
SPF Record
An SPF policy alone is not enough to protect the integrity of your domain email. To create a secure email verification policy, we recommend the following:
- Create an SPF record policy.
- Create a DKIM record.
- Create a DMARC record policy.
To create an SPF record you need to create a DNS record like the following:
Type | Hostname | Destination | Priority | TTL |
---|---|---|---|---|
SPF | @ | v=spf1 include:emailsrvr.com ~all | NA | 3600 seconds or lowest allowed |
Then, decide how you want to enforce SPF failures:
- ~all: results in a soft fail (Not authorized, but not explicitly unauthorized).
- -all: results in a hard fail (Unauthorized).
- ?all: neutral (As if there is no policy at all).
Be sure to include all vendors that may send email on your behalf in the SPF record.
DKIM record
To create a DKIM please contact support as we need to set it up in our email system first.
DMARC record policy
DNS systems use Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) in conjunction with SPF and DKIM to combat email spoofing. Spoofing occurs when a scammer uses your domain in the From field of an email to impersonate one of your users. DMARC uses a policy that your email provider gives. This policy tells the receiving email host how to treat emails sent from your domain based on the criteria that you set. This mechanism also gives visibility into reports on what your domain is sending and how receiving hosts treat that mail.
Please see https://docs.rackspace.com/support/how-to/create-a-dmarc-policy for information about creating a DMARC record policy.
Setting up a printer or scanner
If you are setting up a printer or scanner you'll want to use the outgoing server information that is shown above. You'll use one of your email accounts that you have with us and the password for that email account for the authentication. View our downloadable instructions for a printer or scanner.

The instructions are geared towards setting up a new email account, but they can still be used to guide you through the changes you need to make to your existing email account.
